Business of Photography
Wedding photographers usually specialize in the shooting of a particular type of wedding ceremony and reception within their own specific culture. There are some wedding photographers who are skilled enough to photograph outside of thier own culture and execute such an assignment deftly and with great skill. In addition to carrying out assignments under direct contract with wedding clients, these photographers may also work with licensing agencies in order to sell the use of their photographs through stock-photo agencies. Stock-photo agencies sell the work of some photographers to various magazines and other customers appropriate to that photographer’s work. These agencies require an application from the photographer and a sizable portfolio of pictures. Once accepted, photographers usually are required to submit a large number of new photographs each year. Some of this work can include wedding photography but more often includes set up shoots with models and sets.
